So, when he’d woken up this morning, he’d had no real intention of visiting the barn today. The horses had been worked hard two days before and were still settling in. However, now that Aurora had mentioned that she’d never ridden one before, he hadn’t been able to get here fast enough. The idea that someone had never experienced horses was horrible to him. Horses were one of the best things in his life. Since Aurora was his friend, that was saddening that she had had the chance to ride one yet.
He was at the barns first, which was no surprise. Aurora had needed to change and he hadn’t. Also, Aurora was never really on time anywhere. It was nearing midafternoon and so the barn was empty. That didn’t surprise him. Logan hardly ever woke up before noon on the weekends and was always a bit behind everyone else. He checked on his stallion first. The black Quarter horse proudly tossed his head when Logan entered his stall. Smiling, Logan stroked Hothead’s forelock, before sliding his halter on. He tugged the stallion out of the stall and down to the cross-ties. He hadn’t actually said where to meet him, but considering Aurora’s penchant for clothes, he figured her changing and getting here would give him enough time to clean the horses before she got here.
Hothead didn’t need it. He hadn’t been out since the day before, but Logan tied him and ran a brush down his glistening ebony form anyway. After that, he saddled the stallion. Hothead nickered excitedly, but seemed to frown as Logan left to get his other equine friend. She heard him coming before he arrived. Summer popped her feminine palomino head over the stall and blinked slowly at him. Summer had been a gift, from Resa. For a while, Logan had thought about selling her, unable to stand the memories. But, being him, he had to keep the connection. Summer was his way of remembering her. Summer had the same sweet soul and personality Resa had had. And anyway, Resa hadn’t been that big of a horse person. Instead, she had bought a mare because she hadn’t liked Logan working with Hothead, who liked to bite and kick for fun.
The palomino mare he was currently leading down the concrete-floored barn was nothing like the stallion. Small and petite, Logan barely fit enough to ride her. She glistened like the sun, when she was clean. Right now she was covered in dust, because that’s what she liked to do. It annoyed Logan to death, but well, no one could really stay made at such a pretty and sweet girl. Still seeing no sign of Aurora, he tied the mare next to Hothead, who got a bit frisky. He stretched his muzzle out to nuzzle Summer, but before Logan could warn him, she did. Hothead responded rather well to visible teeth.
Smiling, He grabbed his mare’s cleaning supplies and started brushing her. He stepped up to the front of her and kissed Summer’s forehead. She nickered softly and lipped the collar of his shirt. He smiled and breathed in her scent. Logan always had a way with horses and he enjoyed working with them, though it was hard, hard work. He felt more connected with horses than he did people. Horses didn’t push and expect things he didn’t want to give. Sensing the direction of his thoughts, as she was always apt to do, Summer nickered softly and turned her head towards him, where he was brushing her flank. He smiled at her and slowly set about calmly brushing her. No sense it having bragged about Summer’s beauty only to have Aurora see her covered in dust. He half-hummed half-sang Resa’s favorite song: Need You Now, by Lady Antebellum. His voice carried low throughout the barn as he settled into grooming.

There had been no way to hide Aurora's excitement when she'd been asked if she really wanted to learn to ride a horse. At first, she had thought Logan had just been asking, but then he told her he'd actually help her...today! She wanted to drag him to the stables, but she knew she needed to change. There was no way she was going to be able to properly learn in a dress and boots. Well, she could probably managed, but she was sure to have quite a bit of mishaps throughout. And that...would just be horrible. So, sulky as she may have been, she went off to her room while Logan headed off to the stables.
And you can bet that there had been several times she almost ran to catch up with him before actually making it to her room. But, she didn't. She got into her room and shut the door behind her, not even bothering to lock it before she began to rid herself of her clothing, one thing at a time. She tossed everything on her bed then made her way to her cabinet. She looked down at her bare belly, pursing her lips as she thought about what exactly was good clothes for riding horses. She had never ridden one before, thus she was not sure exactly what she should wear. I mean, people didn't randomly have 'hey, wear me when Logan is teaching you about horsies'-type outfitsjust hanging about, waiting for the opprtunity to be worn. Although, things would have been a hell of a lot easier if there was such a thing.
Well, to start things off, Aurora figured that going comfortable was going to be the best way to go. She tilted her head side to side and opened the cabinet with bottoms on it. Her hand had gone for shorts first, but she ended up going with some black loose warm up bottoms. She moved on to her closet next, wanting oh so badly to choose a cute outfit. Dressing up was just something she loved to do when it came to weekends. It was her one way of expressing her freedom. She grabbed an off the shoulder tee and pulled it on before going to the mirror and looking at her reflection. She pulled her hair up in a messy but fashionable ponytail and pinned a bow to the top. After grabbing her converse, she was out the door,
It got a little frustrating at first, since Aurora had been walking for quite some time and felt as if no progress was being made. She'd asked someone where the stables were, but because of the vague answer, she hadn't been sure where she was supposed to be turning and where she should be going straight. So yes, she'd gone in circles for some time. A small sigh left her parted lips and she leaned against the small tree. "...c'mon rory, if it was Logan there would have been horses." She closed her eyes and when things got serene, she heard it. Now, before she'd been confident when she thought she found Logan, but now she was sure it was him.
She followed the almost inadulble hum and sure enough, the barn came into view. She hopped up excitedly and continued to use Logan's voice as her source. She slowed down when she saw Logan brushing the horse and leaned against the barm, her finger tapping against the wooden wall to the beat of the song. She didn't always know what he sang, but she knew this song. "and I don't know how i could do without...I just need you noooow~" She sang softly, giggling when she realized her presence would be discovered now. She walked up to Logan and looked at the precious creature before him, standing as majestic as can be. "She's beautiful." There was always something calming about the barn. In a school for spies, calming was always a rare thing to find. Considering Logan had spent most of the wee hours of the morning finishing an essay, he thought he deserved the day he had had. Aurora and horses, what could get more calming than that? Of course, no one would believe him when he claimed that Aurora was calming. To him, she was. She didn’t hide behind any twisted words or expressions. She was exactly what she seemed to be, cute and endearing. The friend one needed when they didn’t want to think about things, she was always a good distraction.
So was grooming horses, in a different way. Strangely, Logan thought of Schuyler. She had been a strange girl, and they had met even more bizarrely. And yet, he felt that he understood her a bit better than others. She was a lot like him, and talking to her had been nice. Grooming the horses gave him the same feeling he’d had in her presence. Until Hothead nickered and stomped his hooves, that is. Logan stopped his humming for a moment, laying the brush down. Shaking his head, he patted the black stallion and gave him a slice of apple he had been carrying around all day. Since he normally went to the barn at least once, both Cole and Logan carried extra snacks. They weren’t always in great conditions, but the equines didn’t care.
With Hothead satisfied, Logan went back to Summer. She was dozing lightly, and he continued his song. It was rare for him to be singing a well-known song, but it was still stuck in his head. Summer did that too him, kept Resa near. Sliding the bridle on over the bright palomino’s head, Logan finally heard Aurora arrive. Of course, he guessed the quick footsteps were hers and looked up in time to hear her finish the part of the song he had stopped at. He smiled broadly. It had been a long time since he had taught someone how to ride and he greatly enjoyed seeing the exuberance on their faces. Aurora’s, he knew, would be especially so.
”Ya shoulda seen her earlier.”
[/b] Logan remarked, coming to stand closer to his friend. He glanced at her clothing, he hadn’t exactly told her what to wear. He should have, seeing as this was Aurora, but she had done well. He, of course, would have chosen jeans and a t-shirt that would be okay with getting dirty, but Aurora liked to be a bit more out there than he ever would. Hothead became interested in the visitor first, stepping forward as far as the cross-ties would allow and breathing in deep. His nostrils expanded to show the pink and the effect was comical. Sighing, with a smile, Logan grabbed his stallion’s head and wrapped in arm around it. It almost looked like he was giving Hothead a one-armed headlock. It was more for her safety. He was a flightly bastard. To prove Logan right, Hothead snorted and tossed his head straight up, pushing Logan aside. From there, he stared down at Aurora with regal disdain. Logan sighed and testily flicked the stallion’s ears. The stallion quit his atrocious behavior to turn and try his luck at Logan’s pockets. As always, he came away with a treat. This time it was a slice of orange peel. ”Aurora, this is Hothead.”[/b] Hothead pranced nervously, the whole seventeen hand tall one thousand pound mass of him getting antsy. He was a bit much for a beginning rider. Then Logan felt a nuzzle at his back. Smiling, he turned to Summer. The fifteen hand mare was only eight hundred pounds and standing nice and neat. She flicked her ears forward in interest and stretched her neck to sniff Aurora. Logan smiled, “And this perty lady is Summer.”[/b] His smile wavered slightly. Resa had learned to ride western on Summer, though it had been years and years ago that she had bought him. Ninth grade, which, Logan mused, wasn't as long ago as it felt. And yet, it was too long. Singing Resa's favorite song had set a bit of a harder edge to the slow ache he constantly felt, but he pushed that away. He patted Summer's back, "This is yer ride."[/b] [/BLOCKQUOTE]

Aurora looked back up to Logan when he turned to her, giving her a close-eyed smile. She turned back to the horse when he brought up her earlier appearance, laughing. If he said 'her', then it had to be Summer since he had called her his girl earlier. "Boys don't know that they are supposed to tell us we look good all the time, huh?" She spoke to the horse, laughing under her breath. The small girl's attention came to the horse who approached, her eyes widening slightly. She smiled, though, unable to keep from doing it in the presence of such horses. She wanted to reach out and stroke them, but she wasn't sure if she was allowed to at the moment.
Anyone who was witnessing the little interaction between Hothead and Logan wouldn't have been able to contain laughter. It was both funny and adorable to put it simple. She just watched for a while, covering her mouth and laughing when the horse managed to sneak some food from Logan's pockets. She nodded and waved to the horse, moving a bit closer, but staying far enough away to where he wouldn't get to her. She figured Logan had kept him from getting too close for a reason. "Hi Hothead." He was a very big horse, but she just couldn't be scared of him, although perhaps she should have been. Whenshe both felt and heard something else, Aurora turned, giving her attention to the other beauty before her.
This time, she did touch the horse. Her hand rose up slowly and albeit hesitant at first, she stroked the horse's head. "Hi Summer." A warm smile curled Aurora's lips upwards as she petted the creature, tilting her head as she intook the beauty that was before her. You see, Aurora was usually the type you might imagine always doing or sayign something. She was quite the hyperactive girl and you never saw her without a smile. But, with Logan she could be calm like this. She could just let herself relax. Only sometimes, though. She still continued to be rather upbeat most of the time.
Sadly, Aurora had been too caught up in Summer to notice Logan's smile fall momentarily. Had she noticed, she would have done something - or at least tried to - that would bring him in a better mood. Her attention finally came back to Logan when he annoucned she would be riding Summer. She allowed her hand to fall from where she'd been petting the horse and nodded. She went to Logan and eyes his pocket, dipping her hand and grabbing a treat. She giggled at him and turned on her heel to look at Summer. She lifted the snack up to the horse, laughing when the horse's lips tickled the palm of her hand. "I think I just fell in love."
Stretching her arms above her head, she turned to Logan. She was very excited right not to say the least. "This is awesome. Thank you for sparing some time to teach little ol' me to ride." She nodded. She glanced back at the horses. If only she'd been allowed to keep in touch with Linda and the kids. The children would have loved to hear about this. Her uncle had ordered her not to contact them at anytime after leaving, claiming that they would be in danger if she did. She always wanted to ask him, but whenever the topic of them came up in a conversation, his eyes alone warned her not to pursue further. Thinking about being back with them, telling them abotu Hothead, Summer, Logan, and everyone esle brought a lump to her throat.
Being as she was, she quickly pulled herself away fro teh negativity and smiled. They had to be okay since she was sure her uncle was so heartless not to tell her if anything had happened to them. He usually kept her updated every once and a while, telling her how they were. "So, i'm under your command then, captain." She jumped, realizing something and turned to Summer, laughing. "And yours of course, Summer." She faced Logan and crossed her arms, rocking back and forth on her heels. "So, um...how am I going to get on Summer?" She could probably hop on, but she didn't want to do that since she didn't want to hurt Summer in any way. Logan smiled as Aurora spoke. Summer snorted and tossed her head, as if in agreement. To Logan, the horse person that he was, he was sure it was agreement. No one could convince him horses didn’t have souls. Stroking the mare’s glistening white mane, he muttered, ”Right. I gotta work on that, huh?”
[/b] It was no secret around school that one didn’t ask Logan what he thought if they didn’t want the honest, probably harsh, truth. He placed a hand on Hothead’s bridle as Aurora took a step closer to him. ”Don’t be too scared, he’s justa bit antsy most o’ the time.”[/b]. She didn’t look as scared as he thought she would have. After all, he was a big animal. Of course, he reminded himself, this was Aurora and she didn’t seem scared of any normal things. Then again, the show Hothead had just put on had her smiling and covering her mouth against laughter. Logan sighed and patted his stallion’s neck. Hothead only chewed his treat in response to Aurora’s introduction. Logan smirked. Summer, being the personable horse that she was, stared at Aurora as she spoke to her. Her ears flickered forward with interest, but she didn’t move, as she was very good at being a nice horse. When Aurora stroked her, Summer shifted weight, almost leaning into her hand. She nickered lowly, the sound pure contentment. Logan watched as Aurora calmly stroked the mare. Even the most hyperactive person seemed calmer when Summer was around. Logan smiled as Aurora dug her hand into his pocket. ”Hey now.’[/b] he laughed as she took a treat. Summer’s velvet lips seemed to tickle and Logan smiled at her words. ”Get in line. Everyone loves ‘er.”[/b] Logan shrugged. ”No problem. I need the help anyway. Dev takes up all Cole’s time and it’s hard to ride two horses.”[/b] Particularly when one of the horses was as needy as the stallion currently trying to lift Logan’s hat off his head. Smiling, Logan slammed his hand on the hat, keeping it firmly in place and moved out of Hothead’s reach. The stallion snorted and went back to his fancy prancing. Sometimes, Logan found, ignoring the stallion created bliss. He smiled at Aurora’s cheery words. He smirked at her worried frown. ”Real easy. Just get over ‘ere.”[/b] He undid the cross-ties that held Summer and tugged her a bit further into the aisle. From there, he nodded his head to the left side of the mare. ”Slip yer foot in here and swing right over. I’ll catch ya if ya miss, don’t worry. Ya won’t hurt ‘er. She’s perty sturdy.”[/b] Sure that he had covered all the problems Aurora would have thought of, he helped her on. ”There. Now don’t move.”[/b] He turned to untie Hothead, who tossed his head happily. Bugling a bit, the stallion trotted happily over to the pair. Summer’s ears were the only thing to move. Logan kept a firm grip on Hothead’s bridle and then took Summer’s reins. ”This ways the arena.”He led them into the dirt-covered arena. There was no one else there, as he had expected. Unlocking the white arena fence, he let both of them in. Closing the gate, he turned and led Hothead a few steps away from Summer. Swinging easily into the saddle, Logan turned Hothead neatly, so that he was facing the two females. Smiling, he nodded at her. ”Just sit there and take it in a moment. I gotta get this bastard to calm down a second.”[/b]. Hothead had calmed as soon as Logan had sat in the saddle, but Logan knew what he wanted. Turning the stallion around, they faced the large flat-out empty space of the arena. Logan trotted the stallion in a few tight circles, kicking up the speed with each one. He kept one eye on Summer and Aurora, who were still obediently sitting still. Clicking his tongue and relaxing the reins was all the signal Logan gave before the stallion shot off into a straight-out run. Half-way down the arena, Logan tugged on the reins and Hothead sunk to his haunches in an effort to stop. It was a perfect reining stop. With that, Hothead turned and trotted nicely back to Summer. Logan patted his stallion’s neck, ”There. Now he’ll listen. How ya doin’? Feelin’ tall?”[/b] He couldn’t help the quip and smiled at her. [/BLOCKQUOTE]

Aurora simply shook her head, not at all feeling too scared of Hothead. In fact, she was sure sometime in the future, she would convince him to like her. Even if it was just a little bit, she was going to get it done. "He's nothing but a little cutie." Things had been very different between Hothead and Summer, now. When Aurora had stroked Summer, she practically did the work for her when she leaned her head into her small hand. It wasn't a surprise to hear that many people loved Summer. With such a loving horse, it would be impossible not to. "Of course they do. You are just too sweet." Aurora got up on her tiptoes and pressed a small kiss to bridge of Summer's nose, pulling back with a bright smile.
Hearing that she would also be helping in some way, Aurora felt a wave of accomplishment. Not only was she sure she was ging to have a good time, she'd been relieving Logan of having to take both horses out at separate times. As happy as she'd been earlier, she was even happier now. She looked up to Hothead when he began to try and pry Logan's hat from his head, having to stifle laughter with her hand again. It was too funny seeing Logan have to keep his hant secure before hothead snatched it away. She looked at Hothead and gave him a thumbs up. "Next time i'll help!~"
When Logan told her to move over where he had been, she nodded and immitated Hothead as she pranced over to him. She followed Logan as he moved Summer elsewhere, her eyes not wavering as she watched her partner-to-be be guided by Logan. Aurora nodded and moved over beside Summer. "I'm sorry if I hurt you, Summer." Aurora placed her foo tin the small oval and counted to three, hauling herself up on the last one. It had been much easier than she thought, especially with Logan's help. When he ordered not to move, Aurora nodded immediately although she wasn't sure it was her he was talking to or Summer. Either way, she remained completely still, not wanting to end up in troubel if he had directed it to her.
The only thing that moved were her eyes, following as Logan brough over Hothead. She really hoped he would n't mess with Summer too much since she was sure she might fall if thehorse under her took any sudden movements. She nodded to Logan, holding on tightly when he began to lead Summer forward, feeling very odd with the movements she had to undergo. Everytime that Summer stepped again, her weight was shifted to the opposite site. It just felt very unstable. She nodded nervously to Logan's direction, holding on tightly.
As excited as she had been, she was pretty scared right now. Her anxiety had only gotten worse when Logan let go of Summer, holding on even tighter as she imagned that the hors might want to take off once freedom had been given to her. But, she didn't. She remained still, just as Logan had told her to. She watched in amazement as Logan mounted Hothead and began to ride the horse. It was such a beautiful sight, almost like a painting. She wasn't sure who looked like they enjoyed it more, Hothead or Logan. Just watching them alone brought her such a wave of warmth, she felt so at peace. It was no wonder Logan showed so much love for these horses. She hadn't even properly ridden a horse yet and she didn't want to stop when she saw the way Logan had moved when he did.
Aurora looked down and nodded. "A little scared, but I should be fine." She giggled and wondered if being on top of a horse was what Logan felt like everyday since he was so tall. "It's very weird not being so close to the ground." Her hands still tightly holding on, she looked around. "So...how do I learn how to ride when you do?" When Summer shifted a bit closer towards Logan, Aurora's eyes widened, not having expected it and leaned forward, hugging the horse tightly to keep her from falling off. "Uh...Logan? Are you sure you want to teach me? I-..well, this is awfully nervwrecking." Slowly and shakily she let go of Summer, bringing herself back up in to a sitting position O U T F I T ▏➜ H E R EP A R T N E R ▏➜ LOGAN SAWYER N O T E S ▏➜ pshhh, we got thisss

Patting Hothead’s neck, the stallion looking quite relaxed and Logan feeling so, he smiled. Aurora sat on Summer, who had been obedient. Logan still noted Aurora’s clenched fists and nodded to himself. Trotting a bit closer, using one hand to steer the stallion. He was confident that Hothead had been worked just enough to calm him down. He smiled at Aurora’s words. ”I can bet.”
[/b] He, of course, didn’t hardly notice a difference of height when he sat on Hothead. Just a tiny bit taller than normal was all. It was Summer he felt short on. Logan reached out and patted Summer’s forehead as a reward for listening, not that he hadn’t thought she would. That caused her to shift and that seemed to scare Aurora. Logan couldn’t help it. He smiled. It was funny to see her afraid of something that for him, had never held any fear. She was the one always tugging him along to meet people. And that, that scared him. ”It’ll be good for yer. And don’t worry. Think I’d make ya do somethin’ dangerous?”[/b] he asked, eyebrow crooked. ”Yer just gonna sit there, that’s how. Summer’ll follow me and Hothead when I tell her. Ya just gotta sit there and getused to the feelin’. Try to sit a bit taller and squeeze her with yer legs and tighten yer stomach. It’ll help keep ya stabler.”[/b] Waiting until he was sure she’d done as ordered, he clicked his tongue. Both horses’ ears went up and Summer turned her eyes to him. Nodding his head, he kicked Hothead into a slow trot and that brought Summer into a slow walk beside them. He stayed on Aurora’s left, where he could easily reach out and stabilize her should she slip. ”Just don’t think ‘bout anythin’ that can go wrong. That horse could do whatever she wanted, and ya couldn’t do one thang ‘bout it. But she doesn’t, cause she trusts me and ya to not do anythin’ she wouldn’t want to. Hothead here could kill me if he wanted, but he doesn’t, because, horses love, just the same as people.”[/b] He turned to look where they were going, leading the pair around a slight turn. He would never have spoken so much to anyone else but Cole. Aurora had just found one of the things he was very passionate and serious about. He’d already decided that being a horse trainer would be his cover when he got out of school. That way, he could do the two things he loved most. [/BLOCKQUOTE]

Aurora nodded, laughing nervously when he said he could imagine how the height difference affected her. Her arms trembled just barely as she fought the urge to just hug Summer as hard as she possibly could in fear she would fal if she didn't. Her brown eyes casted sideways, looking at the ground beside her. It was like in the movies where a person tat was scared of heights looked down and the way down seemed to zoom in and out, getting further down the longer you looked. It wasn't that Aurora was scared of heights, it was just a little freaky to feel so unstable.
She looked up to Logan and shook her head. She knew Logan would never do anything to put her in harms way. She knew how protective he could be of her, so she was sure he would take care of her. Being reassured of that, some of the tension in her muscles. "No, you wouldn't." She smiled and looked down to Summer, outstretching her hand and rubbing her along the neck gently. Her eyes came back at Logan, nodded at his instructions. "Gotcha!" She lifted her hand to give him a thumbs up, but immediatlely grabbed on to Summer again, not able to finish the gesture. She ended up just looking up to Logan and laughing.
Her legs got a bit tighter around the horse and she stood up straighter, tensing up the muscles in her stomach. Not that they weren't already tense before. Even thought she was putting on a more relaxed and braver front, she was still very nervous. When he brought up that she shouldn't think about negatives outcomes and the fact that Summer would not do anything bad if Aurora would be obedient too. She looked to Summer for a bit and smiled before giving her smile to Logan and Hothead. "Okay. I think i'm ready now." No, she was sure she was ready. More of the nerves left as she put her trust in Summer, Logan, and even Hothead.
She tried to calm herself as Logan began to lead Summer forward, doing as she was told and trying to get used to the feeling. She watched Logan and Hothead as they led in front of her and Summer, smiling a bit more gently. He really was such a wonderful guy and shecouldn't stand to see him upset or hurt, which is why she did all she could to help him out of the slumps when she saw he was in them. Withoug having even realized, she'd released her strong hold only to be holding softly to keep herself on the horse correctly. She blinked and looked down to Summer, smiling when the revelation hit. She laughed and although still a bit uneasy, her excitement again overshadowed it. "I think i'm getting the hang of this."

There was no denying the peace that permeated a barn. Horses were one of the most wild creatures a human could keep as a pet, and yet, Logan sat atop one and gently led the other. There was just a perfect sense of beautiful harmony in that. He could feel it as he clicked his tongue, leading Summer around the other slight turn. The dirt arena was large and they had a pretty large area to cover.
Beside him, he didn't think Aurora was feeling the exact peace he was, but that took time. Horses had been the only thing Logan hadn't initially been wary of. Even the thought of becoming a spy had taken weeks of meditation. Of course, he was mercilessly teased by his family that he never did anything without thinking about it. Cole, of course, had dove right in, as he did everything. However, he'd stuck with it. Logan had never seen his older brother stick with anything but horses and spying before.
His thoughts were broken by Aurora's words. He smiled at her, smirking as she wobbled a bit. The balance thing was the hardest for riders to get used to. Horses moved differently and time and practice were the only things that made Logan look at home in the saddle. She was looking better than before, though. He nodded, "There ya go. See, not too hard?"
They came around one more corner, back to the beginning. He stopped both horses by simply tugging on Hothead. Summer slowed as well, both horses tails swishing. He turned slightly, resting one arm on Hothead's saddle horn. "Feel like ya could handle it a bit faster? Ya did perty good."
[/color] He leaned over a bit to feed Summer a piece of apple. He patted Hothead’s neck, and the stallion pranced a bit. Logan turned when he heard a familiar neigh. The arena was right up next to the pastures and a single mare had been loosed there that morning. Dev. She was a gorgeous red, glistening in the sun. She didn’t have the bad habit of getting dirty like Summer did. Logan smiled and nodded his head, ”That’s Devastation, or Dev. She’s Cole’s.”[/b] [/BLOCKQUOTE]

Aurora looked down at the horse she was on, taking slow breaths as she tried to find her own center. There had been a month this past summer where her uncle had trained her to relax herself enough so she would be better at being better at using stealth. Even though it annoyed him, he told her to use her shorter stature to her advantage. So, right now, she was trying to think of how her size would benefit her right now. So far the only thing she gat was that it wouldn't hurt so bad if she fell since she didn't weigh as much as another person would. That was something positive....well sorta.
When Logan brought up that it hadn't been that hard, she nodded. Mostly to assure herself that it wasn't that hard. By this time, it was even getting as fun as she'd imagined it to be. She loosened herself up and began to just enjoy the ride rather than being scared. "Yeah...it's fun." She smiled and looked up to Logan, happy that she was doing better so he wouldn't have to struggle to teach her had it gone worse. She leaned back a bit when the horse began to slow down, slightly disappointed that they would be stopping now. She was finally getting used to the movements.
She hadn't been sure whether to feel flattered that he said she did good or worried that he was overestimating her and going faster would only end in disaster. But, he said he wouldn't put her in danger. She didn't trust many people, but she did trust Logan. She nodded and laughed. "You know me! I'm always up for anything." She patted the top of Summer's head as she ate, leaning down and whispering gently. "You're the best partner I could ask for, aren't you pretty girl? Thank you for taking care of me." She straightened back up and blinked when she heard a neigh, neither from Summer or Hothead.
Looking over to the horse, Aurora was lost in its beauty. She inhaled slowly, as if it was too much to take in fast. "She's gorgeous." This is why she loved horses before having ever ridden one. They were one of the most beautiful things you could come across. "She kinda resembles what I hear about Cole, you know, wild." She laughed, jokingly and her eyes widened when Summer began to move closer towards Logan suddenly, but she adjusted herself quicky. She propped her shoulders up then let them fall, nodding with a look of finality in her eyes. "Alright. I'm ready for the next step, Logan. Just you wait and see. I'm gonna be your best student." Probably not, but she smiled and laughed anyways, just to lighten up the mood since she'd been tense earlier.

Logan stroked Hothead’s mane. The stallion was prancing a bit, something he did when bored that often made others nervous. He had yet to step on anyone, which was a big feat, so Logan just simply stayed on for the ride. Summer was, however, being the perfect Southern belle that she was and standing still, eyes droopy. She was content, and it made her look like she was falling asleep.
Logan knew having Aurora ride was a good thing. For many reasons. First, he felt she needed something to do that wasn’t exactly what the school wanted. She was kind of rebellious and wary of all their future jobs would entail. As she spoke about being ready for anything, he smiled. “Right. I’ll try an ‘member that.” He didn’t really need to be sarcastic about it, though. She was afraid easily, but that didn’t mean her fear stopped her. He knew plenty of girls that were too afraid to ride horses, even here.
Horses were the best and only way he knew how to de-stress. He smiled as she leaned over to whisper in Summer’s ear. The mare’s ears flickered as Aurora’s pink hair brushed them, but her eyes brightened and she snorted.
Dev, however, was ready to be the center of attention. As Aurora spoke, Logan nodded. “Oh yeah, perfect fit right there.” He pulled out the last bit of snack he could find and tossed it over the fence. The blood-red mare shied a bit, rearing up before realizing what it was, and snatched it up from the ground. She chewed it, watching them. She was noticeably thinner than most horses, particularly Hothead. Logan was always giving her treats.
”Now, that right there’s the closest ya’ll probly get to a wild mustang. She’s a mustang, but she ain’t ever been in the wild with a herd. Cole found her at a sale, ready to be sold to a slaughterhouse, she was so wild. He’s been workin’ with her, trainin’ her to rein and rope with Hothead and me.”
[/b] Logan explained. Dev’s attitude was always so wild and fearsome, that both Sawyers felt the need to explain her to newcomers. As if in response to his words, Dev snorted. Hothead’s ears flew up and he took a step forward. Dev immediately noticed, arching her head and giving a deadly stink-eye at him. Logan smiled and flicked Hothead’s ears. “He ain’t exactly learned what ‘no’ means.” At Aurora's next words, Logan smiled. "Sure 'bout that? From a trot to a canter's a bit scary." He winked to let her know he was teasing. He turned Hothead away from Dev, who snorted at them and took off at a dead gallop to the other end of the pasture. Logan watched her run. She was beautiful. He turned back, clicking his tongue to have Summer follow. She did. Stopping both horses, Logan grabbed Summer's reins and handed them to Aurora. "Hang on, but not too tight. Don't tug much, she's got a sensitive mouth and'll turn faster than ya can blink. Just 'member keep your focus on keepin' yer muscles tight."When he was sure she was ready, he kicked Hothead into a canter and whistled. Summer obeyed. Her canter was slower than Hothead's, whose long legs carried them about a stride ahead. It wasn't a super fast past, but it was definitely not the simple trot. [/BLOCKQUOTE]
