In the beginning, the known world was divided as men sought to rule it all. It was a time for constant battle and great battles. As time went by the number dwindled to but four, whom had carved equally large, equally powerful kingdoms from the free lands. In the midst of all this, a deal was struck- the four would be known as "The Four Lords" and reign in their lands however they saw fit. All were brutal and ruled with an iron fist.
The Gentlest of the four, a Mary Lombardi was the first to betray the peace for she had seen it for what it was- a false peace. She formed a rebelion against the others and lost. Her life ended but her legacy lived on in the rebellion and in her children, one of whom taking up the mantel of leadership while a daughter of the Northern and Southern lord's left the courts to seek her own path in the world.
The Rebellion saw tough times as, before Mary's children could lead, another did and proved to be a puppet of the very ones the rebellion was against. With the puppet out of the way the Rebellion fought on.
The 'Four Lords', now three, seek their wayward children, hoping to kill or turn them as they lead the rebellion. All the while a new war arises. A Group calling themselves the Bloody Claw rose from the constant struggle, most of the members were wizards, formerly of either side, now united against both.
Years of struggle passed and no end was in sight. Then a man appeared in the south, earned the trust of the Lord and quickly assembled a power secondly only to the Southern leader's own. And then the Lord was dead, this mystery man took the mantel of the South and reshaped the course of the war. The South was transformed into an industrious, military caste system that was as ecenomically strong as the other lands were not. Through negotiations the West and South formed an alliance, crushing the North and the South extending into the East. In time, several failed meetings between the south and east and a failed assassination brought the war to them as the West turned on the South, the North was left leaderless as the occupying forces turned on each other and large armies assaulted the East.
The Battle that would end the south was fought between the two leaders as the East fought for it's very survival. All was lost until the mystery man vanished in mid stroke. Though united and far better off than it once was, the South found itself without a leader and began the slow descent into degeneration as former minor powers rose up to fight for the throne, alas with the remnants of the mysterious leader still at large the South was held steady even as the closest followers of the leader separated.
Saved, the East was able to rebuild, and to come out more or less intact with a damaged leader. The West, still with a leader had been reduced, militarily, economically and industrially. The North, with no leader and with remnants of two armies, three including their conquered military, broken and fghting was in the worst shape and may well disappear to the canals of history.
